Butterfly: Meet Jake

Jake has taken a liking to the butterfly bush in my backyard. More accurately, he likes the BUTTERFLIES in the bush and tends to raise a bit of chaos with them. I was lucky enough to get this on camera today! This is better than cable;-)

This is my favorite... yeah, he so blends into the background with his black & white mixture. He hasn't fooled a butterfly yet!

I actually think they toy with him.. Sitting there drinking happily, not moving til the last minute;-)

On a much more somber note, the farm is a wonderful place to raise the kids. But some lessons come early. We've saved deer, birds, and rabbits from their attackers (that's what dogs and cats do... another hard lesson when the pet is loved); and the grim reality is that few make it.

Today, we rescued a baby rabbit from the jaws of our beloved dog, JoJo. She found a nest and the baby we've adopted hasn't even opened his eyes. Rylee has wrapped him up and is feeding him with a dropper every few minutes (I've gotten four updates since I began this post!).

I"m proud of her for her maturity and compassion. She said that if he dies, she wants his last moments to be filled with love (OK, I"m crying now!!!). So, here she is tending to her little patient. Pray for him to feel God's love and warmth whatever phase of his life this may be.

~ May God bless and keep you strong, warm and surrounded by loved ones each day you grace this Earth. Blessed be. ~

I love those butterfly shots, they are so cool!! I have a butterfly bush at the moment too...won't in a few weeks ;0) at least I don't think there is one there. But I can't get shots like that with my little dinky point & shoot digi camera.
